I’ve been thinking a lot lately about mending things. About fixing what we already have. About fixing who we are.
About value and permanence.
Building beauty from the scraps. Stitching together all the pieces until it’s something we’re proud of. Something that we *want* to live with.
The use of the delicate raw silk here represents all the vulnerabilities within. The embarrassment of the frayed edges are pierced with harsh stitches to hold it all together.
These desperate attempts to rebuild feign beauty from afar in the shape of the mighty Black Eyed Susan, in hopes to romance you to get closer. In hopes that you’ll forgive all the sutures and scars once you get there; already bewitched by it all.
And, now, I’m done being permanent. Now I am brazenly fragile. Baring all my sutures, my patched holes and my small attempts to bring some beauty into such a bleak world.
Now I’m a seed in the breeze
